Chang-Jin Lee is a Korean-born conceptual artist and lives in New York City. Her multicultural background and experiences have provoked in her an interest in investigating the diverse cultural and social/political issues in our current era.
Chang-Jin Lee has exhibited extensively including at The Queens Museum of Art, The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, The Asian American Arts Centre, The Chinese American Arts Council, Van Brunt Gallery, Cuchifritos Art Gallery/ Project Space, Elizabeth Heskin Gallery, The Educational Alliance/Ernest Rubestein Gallery, and The Peekskill Project.
Her large-scale public art project, “Homeland Security Garden,” was presented at The World Financial Center Winter Garden, in conjunction with The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council's "What Comes After: Cities, Art and Recovery," in New York City in 2005. This project received national and international broadcast media attentions from New York 1, “Homeland Security Garden” Exhibit Examines “What Makes People Feel Safe,” New York City, Yue-Sai Kan’s World, “Art Show,” Shanghai, China, and Tokyo FM, “9/11 Special”, Tokyo, Japan.
She has a recipient of numerous awards including a World Financial Center Sponsorship, a Lower Manhattan Cultural Council Sponsorship, The Asian Cultural Council Grant, The Puffin Foundation Grant, Manhattan Community Arts Fund from The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council; has participated in The World Financial Center Artist Residency, Artists Alliance Inc. Program, and The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council - Creative Capital Professional Development Workshop.
Her artworks have been reviewed in publications including Public Art Review, Time Out New York, The Daily News, The New York Times, The World Journal, The Tribeca Trib, New York Arts, The Korea Times, The Korea Daily, The Washington Journal, Metro, New York Press, WTOP Radio, Lower Manhattan Info, and San Diego Union Tribune.
