Double Happiness

1998
mixed-media installation

Site-specific installation commissioned by the Bronx Museum of the Arts, 1040 Grand Concourse, Bronx, NY.

"A wedding banquet and the Chinese symbol for marriage 'Double Happiness' become metaphors for the mixing of cultures. Based on a year-long oral history project with Chinese Latinos and Chinese Caribbeans living in New York. Chairs arranged around the banquet table are silkscreened with portraits of the people interviewed and excerpts from their interviews."
