"In Body Garden, I demonstrate that computer technology gives human body a new definition. I archive my own body parts by crawling on a scanner, holding myself still. Then, I transform the parts, deconstruct and reconstruct them into nature forms. Flowers, grasses, trees, corn, pine cone, leaves, butterfly, star shape fruit are all self portraits of my fingers, tongue, hair, ears, eyeballs, and skin.
By taking apart the human body and using the parts to construct wholly different objects, I use this as a metaphor for the power of digital media to allow people to start with their true identity, and reconfigure it in ways that completely subvert reality."--Bovey Lee, statement for Body Garden
